Research programms of the BSMRAU have primary focus on local problems within the National Agricultural Research System framework. The results of research at BSMRAU are directly applicable to the agricultural development of the country.

There are ten research laboratories with modern sophisticated equipment for conducting both applied and basic research in agricultural and social sciences. Additionally, field research facilities and a meteorological station are available to support research activities at the University.
